Programme & Sessions

What is the format of the summit?

AYDHIS 2026 is a fully virtual four-day summit. All sessions, panels, bootcamps, and competitions take place online — participants join from any device with an internet connection.

What sessions will be available?

The summit covers four core themes across four days:

  • Day 1: Arrival & Digital Onboarding
  • Day 2: Leadership, Awareness & Policy — keynotes, ministerial dialogue, and panels
  • Day 3: Skills, Innovation & Collaboration — bootcamps, hackathon, and pitch competition
  • Day 4: Outcomes, Commitments & Closing — research highlights, policy communiqué, and awards
What language is the summit in?

The main language is English. Captions and selected sessions will be available in French, Arabic, and Portuguese to ensure pan-African accessibility.

Will sessions be recorded?

Yes. All sessions will be recorded and made available as an on-demand learning library within 48 hours of the summit — so you can catch up on anything you miss.

What is the Ministerial Dialogue?

The Ministerial Dialogue brings together Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Health and ICT from multiple African countries to discuss continental digital health policy and commitments. It's one of the highest-level sessions of the summit.

03

Hackathon & Pitch

What is the hackathon theme?

Digital Healthcare Innovation for Africa. Any digital health product or tool is welcome — AI or not. There are no fixed tracks.

How many members per team?

Teams must have 3 to 5 members. One captain registers the team. Each person can join only one team.

Can I join if I already have an existing product?

Yes, existing products are welcome. You must declare what existed before the build window opened and what was built during the window. Judging covers only the work built during the window.

What do I need to submit?
  • A demo video of 3 minutes or less
  • A demo or repo link (private is fine if judges get access)
  • A one-page summary covering problem, users, solution, what is new, data used, and next steps

Submissions without a video are not judged. No extensions.

How are submissions judged?

Submissions are scored out of 100 points:

  • Impact & relevance to African healthcare — 25 points
  • Technical execution & feasibility — 25 points
  • Innovation — 15 points
  • Scalability & adoption — 20 points
  • Clarity (video, summary, live Q&A) — 15 points
What are the prizes?

Prize details are being finalized with the Partnerships team. Top teams will receive cash prizes, incubation support, mentorship programs, and public recognition. Special awards include Women in Digital Health, Best Research, Best Startup, and People's Choice.

Can I use real patient data?

No real identifiable patient data is allowed in demos or submissions. Use synthetic or anonymized data. Teams piloting with real users are responsible for consent and local law.
