Five phases take you from team registration to the podium.
3–5 members. One captain registers the team. Registration window is limited — watch the announcements page for the open date.
Every team is matched with an experienced mentor by problem area. Mentors go active when the build phase begins.
Build phase opens ahead of the summit. What you build during the window is what we judge.

Age 18 and over. Students, young professionals, and early-stage startups from any African country.
3–5 members. One captain registers. One team, one submission. Each person joins only one team. The roster locks at the end of the registration window; later changes need organizer approval.
Welcome — but declare what existed before the build window opened and what was built during the window. Judging covers window work only. Undisclosed prior work or uncredited copying leads to disqualification. Open source tools are allowed if credited.
3-minute demo video (anything after 3:00 is not judged) + demo/repo link (private is fine if judges get access) + one-page summary covering problem, users, solution, what is new in the window, data used, and next steps. No video, no judgment. No extensions.
100 points, scored on 5 criteria — see the scoring rubric below.
No real identifiable patient data in demos or submissions. Use synthetic or anonymized data. Teams piloting with real users are responsible for consent and local law. Solutions are prototypes — no clinical claims without evidence.
Teams own their work. AYDHIS and FAMSA claim none of it. Teams allow their name, video, and summary to be used in summit materials.
Zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination. Applies to participants, judges, mentors, volunteers, and organizers in every chat, room, and channel. Breaches lead to a warning or removal.
Plagiarism, undisclosed prior work, false information, missing or late submissions, and conduct or data rule violations.
Every submission is scored on 5 criteria worth 100 points total.
